Pain Management Physician Assistant - Surgical Center

Position Overview

VitalEdge PA, located in Oswego, New York, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to enhance our team in the Pain Management department at our state-of-the-art Surgical Center. This full-time position requires an individual who is passionate about improving patient health outcomes by diagnosing and treating various pain-related conditions while promoting health and wellness practices.

Work Environment

This role will be fully onsite at our Surgical Center, ensuring a collaborative environment where you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners. The workweek consists of 40 hours, Monday to Friday, concluding at 5:00 PM. Our team thrives in a dynamic and professional atmosphere, where each member plays a vital role in patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments to evaluate their needs and develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Perform thorough physical examinations and order appropriate diagnostic tests to aid in the diagnosis and management of pain conditions.
• Administer various treatment modalities, including trigger point and joint injections, as part of the pain management regimen.
• Prescribe medications and develop comprehensive pain management strategies that are tailored to individual patient circumstances.
• Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on patient responses and changes in conditions.
• Educate patients and their families about pain management techniques, treatment options, and medication usage to empower them in their care journey.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with health regulations and standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies and collaborate on complex cases.
• Promote preventative health practices and educate patients about their overall health and wellness.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and research to stay abreast of advancements in pain management.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be primarily working with a diverse population dealing with various pain-related issues, including chronic pain, post-surgical pain management, and acute pain conditions. Your role will require a patient-centered approach that emphasizes understanding individual pain experiences and fostering a therapeutic relationship to improve health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
• Current and valid New York State Physician Assistant license.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) is required.
• Possession of a valid DEA and NPI number for prescribing medications.
• Proven clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in a fast-paced clinic, hospital, or emergency setting.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in pain management or related specialties is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of patient care regulations and healthcare standards.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills, crucial for effective teamwork and patient interaction.
• Ability to stay organized in a busy surgical center environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to USD 160,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 to welcome you to our team.
