Position Overview The Manager of Development will play a critical role in advancing the mission of the Foundation by managing fundraising initiatives, cultivating donor relationships, and executing development strategies. The ideal candidate will secure philanthropic support from corporations, foundations, and individuals to fund qualified initiatives and services that align with the Foundation’s mission as well as key programs, including Hiring Our Heroes, the Civic Trust (including the National Civics Bee), and Workforce (including AI and the Future of Work). The candidate will collaborate with Foundation leadership, development team members, program leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of revenue-generating activities and donor engagement. This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Responsibilities Develop and execute fundraising plans, including strategies for securing support from corporations, foundations, and individuals to fund programs and services. Collaborate with Foundation leadership, development team members, program leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of fundraising efforts and donor engagement. Cultivate, solicit, and oversee relationships with new and existing donors through personalized communication, events, and recognition programs. Engage in planning, managing, and executing fundraising events. Help prepare and submit grant proposals, partnership proposals, and stewardship reports to foundations, corporations, and individuals. Manage key funder data and reporting, maintain donor databases, and ensure the accuracy of financial records and reports. Help prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Support communication efforts, including impact reporting, annual program reports, and donor-specific communications. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or sales. Proven track record of securing significant gifts, grants, or sales contracts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization. Comfortable working in a cross-matrixed system. Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Strong emotional intelligence and maturity. Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with public-private partnerships. Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software and comfortable learning additional software and system tools as needed. Strong knowledge of fundraising databases (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge). Compensation and Benefits Salary range for this position is $83,498.00 to $90,000.00. The actual salary paid will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave. As the Foundation is a 501(c)(3), employees are eligible for student loan forgiveness.
