Director of Business Development

Overview Our client, a successful, prominent commercial real estate developer and investment company with $6+ Bil AUM and 14+ mil sq ft under management seeks a hands-on, high potential business development /sales professional to lead business development efforts for their third-party general contracting operating company. With an experienced management team, they expect significant growth and continued success of for this operating division. The construction division has a strong track record of completing complex projects on time and within budget and look to expand their third-party general contracting business. This individual will play a critical role in expanding market presence, building strategic partnerships, and driving new project opportunities across key sectors. The company has a positive, results-oriented, collaborative, entrepreneurial culture and operates in a hybrid, 3 day/week work schedule. The operating group is located in Tysons Corner and accessible by Metro. Position In this newly created position, this person will report directly to the Division President who has significant commercial construction experience and is a collaborative, hands-on, positive leader/mentor. The company seeks a high potential person who has the interest, drive, initiative and desire to be visible in the owner/developer community and attend weekly relevant business functions to develop positive relationships, schedule meetings and drive new business development efforts. Responsibilities include identifying and developing business opportunities within target office/mixed-use and industrial owners, build and maintain strong relationships with developers, owners, architects, brokers and industry stakeholders. This role will collaborate with preconstruction, estimating and the operations teams to develop winning strategies and proposals. The successful person will also track market trends, competitor activity and pipeline opportunities and represent the company at industry events and networking functions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred 5+ years of relevant commercial real estate business development, sales, or client-facing experience within the real estate, construction or related industry Ability and desire to develop new business relationships, reach out to target companies and attend industry networking events. Proven track record of sourcing new business opportunities Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and deliver results Highest level of ethics, honesty, and integrity. Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite Relationship building & networking Strategic thinking & market insight Communication & influence Collaboration & teamwork Compensation Excellent compensation package including competitive base salary, bonus and strong benefits program.
