Lead Software Engineer - Hyper-V Automation

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, data modeling, and testing
• Proficiency in server-side programming with Go, Java, PowerShell, or Python, and experience building scalable applications in virtualized Windows environments
• Advanced knowledge of at least one database technology
• Practical cloud-native experience and familiarity with deploying production-ready software
• Understanding of CPU, memory, and networking allocation for VMs and clusters, plus hands-on Microsoft Hyper-V experience
• Strong experience developing and maintaining automated workflows, troubleshooting infrastructure, and maintaining security compliance, authentication, and data integrity
• Experience with data-center-scale automation and orchestration tools such as Temporal
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with and influence global peers
• Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, such as for coding, code review, testing, and troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Preferred: Experience leading engineering teams in an AI-augmented environment
• Preferred: Experience with multiple hypervisors, such as VMware ESXi, OpenShift, or KVM
• Preferred: Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and DevOps
• Preferred: Knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft System Center tools, including VMM and SCCM, in large environments

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions for Hyper-V cluster lifecycle automation
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, compliance enforcement, and decommissioning using PowerShell and platform APIs
• Lead the teams adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish consistent validation standards and promote effective reusable patterns
• Use software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate recurring issues or automate their remediation to improve operational stability
• Lead production-grade deployments, own technical solutions, and diagnose issues using structured troubleshooting methods
