Marketing And Public Relations Manager
The primary purpose of your job position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer our facility's marketing and public relations programs and services.
Essential duties include:
- Maintaining a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers.
- Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the facility's public relations and marketing programs and activities to maintain and increase our census and to provide the community with information relative to our facility, its programs, services, and practices.
- Developing and maintaining written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning the residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current privacy rules and regulations.
- Assisting department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures, and establishing a rapport in and between departments so that each staff member can realize the importance of his/her role in our marketing and public relations programs.
- Reviewing the facility's marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and making changes as necessary.
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
- Interpreting the facility's policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.
- Ensuring that public information describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive.
- Ensuring that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.
- Organizing and implementing continuing internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, house organs, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, public announcements, etc.
- Scheduling and participating in departmental meetings concerning our marketing and public relations programs and activities.
- Providing creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc., as necessary.
- Maintaining an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
- Participating in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the facility.
- Contacting the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility that will be beneficial to the facility and community alike.
- Keeping the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio, and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on our facility or the regulations that govern our facility.
- During emergencies, establishing a public relations area to assure that the release of information is accurate and within the scope of our established policies governing the release of information during emergency conditions.
- Assisting department directors in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on-the-job training, and orientation programs concerning the facility's marketing and public relations programs and activities.
- Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Following established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Preparing a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocating the resources to carry out programs and activities of the facility.
- Serving on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Reporting known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
- Interpreting resident rights to the resident, family, and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate.
Supervisory requirements include:
This position has supervisor responsibilities.
Qualification:
Education and/or Experience:
Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent. (Five (5) years experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting may be recognized in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.)
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Prolonged use of a desk top or laptop computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk and talk, read or hear. Frequent use of all office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
