National Account Manager - Retail Packaging

Job Description

Action Packaging is hiring a National Account Manager to win new business, grow national and strategic accounts, and drive profitable revenue growth. You'll own each customer relationship from first contact through long-term account growth. You'll find ways to expand existing business, grow market share and give customers an excellent experience. You'll work closely with our internal teams to deliver packaging solutions that meet customer needs and build lasting value.

To succeed in this role, you need strong relationship-building skills and a solid grasp of retail packaging, including products, materials, manufacturing, printing, sourcing, pricing and profitability. This is a remote position with some travel.

Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Find, develop and close new business with national retailers, emerging brands, multi-location organizations, distributors and other strategic accounts
\n
• Build and maintain a pipeline that fits company capabilities and growth priorities, using direct outreach, networking, referrals, trade shows and market research
\n
• Prepare proposals, respond to RFQs and RFPs, and lead negotiations that meet company pricing and gross margin goals
\n
• Create and carry out strategic account plans to grow revenue, improve gross profit and expand existing business
\n
• Learn each customer's business, brand, buying practices and packaging needs
\n
• Grow accounts into more product categories, programs, locations and divisions
\n
• Run account reviews covering performance, growth opportunities, competitive threats and service concerns
\n
• Work with art, production, purchasing, operations and customer service so customer requirements are clearly communicated and delivered
\n
• Recommend packaging solutions that balance branding, performance, budget and supply needs. This includes understanding how materials, printing methods, minimum order quantities, lead times, freight, sustainability and domestic or import sourcing affect each decision.

• Keep CRM and ERP records accurate, including activity, opportunities, next steps, projected revenue and expected close dates
\n
• Track results against targets for sales growth, gross profit, new business and strategic account expansion

Required Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree
\n
• 3+ years of B2B sales experience, including account management and strategic selling
\n
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
\n
• Valid driver's license
\n
• Able to travel up to 25% of the time
\n

\n

\n

Desired Qualifications:

\n

\n
• 1+ year of experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system
\n
• Packaging industry experience
\n

\n

\n

Pay:

\n

\n
• Base salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year
\n
• On-target earnings (OTE): $80,000–$100,000
\n
• Uncapped commission, paid monthly on the last paycheck of each month
\n
