Job Description And Duties The Crime Analyst (CA) II is considered the technical expert and resource within the Cal-ID Program. The CA II searches, analyzes, compares, and resolves difficult to complex fingerprint and palm print transactions and errors through the use of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). The CA II must have a working knowledge of friction ridge examination, Department of Justice (DOJ) databases, and the criminal justice system in order to research and problem-solve production issues. New-to-State employees will be given the minimum salary of Range A, unless you meet Alternate Range Criteria 494. This range shall apply to those individuals who do not meet the criteria for Range B. Range B. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of 12 months of Crime Analyst I, Range A; who have graduated from a recognized four-year accredited college or university; or who have one year of work experience obtaining, analyzing, and/or disseminating criminal justice information. When the requirements for the particular criteria are met and upon recommendation of the appointing power, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.676.
