The course is a 3‑unit class taught over the course of the semester. Course Description Examines fundamental principles and methodologies used in conducting research within the field of public health. It explores various research designs, data collection methods, analysis techniques, and ethical considerations essential for investigating and addressing public health issues, and it emphasizes evaluation of published public health research. Qualifications & Experience An earned Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) is required. The candidate should have relevant experience working with college‑level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required. Per the California State University’s Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.) and demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to communicate with culturally diverse groups of students is highly desired. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,836 – $6,240 per full‑time month CSU Classification Salary Range – Lecturer A (AY): $5,507 – $6,677 per full‑time month CSU Classification Salary Range – Lecturer B (AY): $6,221 – $13,224 per full‑time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
