This is an intensive, community-based family therapy role working with children and families who have complex behavioral-health and family challenges. The therapist uses the Family Centered Treatment (FCT) model to help families remain together and avoid higher levels of care such as residential placement. Treatment happens primarily in the family's natural environment , rather than only in an office.

Locations: Cincinnati, OH
Salary: $56,516–$64,273/year
Education: Master's degree
Experience: At least 2 years working with children and families
License: Active LPC required

Main responsibilities

• Provide individual/family therapy using the FCT model
• Work with children and families experiencing mental-health, substance-use, abuse, neglect, and other complex challenges
• Conduct mental-health assessments and intake evaluations
• Develop short- and long-term family goals and treatment plans
• Provide crisis intervention and FCT interventions
• Monitor family progress and adjust treatment as needed
• Participate in Child & Family Team Meetings
• Provide after-care planning and follow-up
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation and FCT fidelity paperwork
• Participate in weekly case-review/team meetings
• Potentially testify in court when required
• Coordinate with other professionals and stakeholders involved with the family

Caseload & schedule

• Average caseload is approximately 4 FCT families
• Each family generally receives at least two multi-hour face-to-face sessions per week
• Schedule is flexible based on family needs
• Evening and weekend appointments are often required
• The position is office and community-based
• Frequent travel throughout the community is required
• Some administrative/office work may be hybrid
• Company cell phone and mileage reimbursement are provided

Must have:

• Master's degree
• Active LPC license
• At least 2 years' experience working with children and families
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable personal vehicle
• Valid auto insurance
• Ability to travel throughout the community
• CPR & First Aid certification or ability to obtain it
• Strong documentation and time-management skills
• Ability to work evenings/weekends
• Comfort working with complex families and crisis situations
• Ability to accept feedback and adapt
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
