Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Full Time, Day shift in Suffolk, VA! Sign on bonus up to $15,000 available for qualified candidates.

About the Unit:

The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) at Sentara Obici Hospital is a licensed 20 beds unit. We see dual diagnosis behavioral health patients to include but not limited to: Bi-polar, schizophrenia, major depression and substance abuse. We are a low to moderate acuity locked unit. For several years we have had the highest customer service scores within behavioral health of Sentara as well as high employee engagement scores. The nurses work with a full interdisciplinary behavioral health team to include mental health techs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Therapist, Recreational Therapist, Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrist. We have a team nursing structure - all are engaged in the patient care. We provide group therapy sessions on the unit.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education:

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Certification/Licensure:

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience:

• None required
• Behavioral Health experience is highly (preferred)
• 1 year of acute care (preferred)
• Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
