Estimator / Senior Estimator

We are a family owned shell contractor with over 40 years of experience building projects in South Florida. The Estimator / Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for concrete shell construction projects, including foundations, slabs, columns, decks, and structural systems. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of concrete construction in South Florida, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.

Estimating & Preconstruction

• Prepare accurate and detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete shell scopes (footings, slabs, masonry, elevated decks, rebar, formwork, etc.)
• Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and project documents
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and production rates
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving strategies
• Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit pricing

Bid Management

• Lead or support bid preparation, review, and submission
• Develop scope clarifications and exclusions
• Participate in post-bid interviews and presentations
• Ensure alignment with company margins and risk tolerance

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with project management teams for smooth handoff of awarded work
• Assist with budgets, schedules, and cost tracking during preconstruction
• Support change order pricing and cost analysis as required

Market & Client Engagement (Senior Role)

• Build and maintain relationships with developers, general contractors, and design teams
• Participate in networking and business development efforts
• Track market trends and competitive pricing in South Florida

The Successful Applicant

• 3+ years (Estimator) or 7+ years (Senior Estimator) experience in concrete or structural construction estimating
• Strong knowledge of concrete shell construction methods in South Florida (including high-end residential)
• Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST, Procore, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of labor production rates, sequencing, and field operations
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred

• Experience with luxury custom homes, waterfront projects, or complex commercial structures
• Familiarity with local codes, permitting, and hurricane-resistant construction practices
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
