Assistant project manager

Snapshot / Role Overview

We're seeking an Assistant Project Manager in the Honolulu, Hawaii metro area to support the successful delivery of large-scale commercial mechanical construction projects across healthcare, aviation, education, hospitality, and high-rise sectors.

Impact

- Support on-time, on-budget completion of complex piping and HVAC projects across major institutional and commercial facilities.
- Contribute directly to project financial performance by tracking costs, change orders, and procurement activity.
- Help build and maintain strong working relationships with general contractors, owners, and design teams.
- Develop into a lead project manager by gaining hands-on exposure to large, high-profile mechanical construction projects.

Responsibilities

- Assist senior project managers in planning, scheduling, and executing commercial HVAC and piping projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Track project budgets, job costs, and monthly cost projections using Microsoft Project and related tools.
- Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and drawing reviews to keep documentation current and accurate.
- Support procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring long-lead items to prevent schedule delays.
- Attend project meetings with owners, general contractors, and engineers and distribute accurate meeting notes.
- Communicate daily with field superintendents to align on installation sequencing and manpower needs.
- Process and log change orders and assist in identifying scope changes that affect project cost or schedule.
- Support project closeout including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final documentation.

Requirements

Must-Haves
- 2 or more years of experience in commercial mechanical construction project management or coordination.
- Hands-on exposure to HVAC and piping systems on large projects such as hospitals, airports, schools, hotels, high-rises, or arenas.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and standard project management software
