Details Work in a high risk, high volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms and beds Unit averages 15 patients per day with 500-600 deliveries per month 4 operating rooms on unit for cesarean deliveries Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients Patient ratio of 1:1-2 Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30 Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed Float required to postpartum/antepartum units and may float to sister facilities offering Mother/Baby care Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission BLS and NRP certifications required ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred Minimum 3-5 years of RN experience in a high acuity, high pace environment required Minimum 2 years experience in high acuity/high pace setting required, with high risk experience strongly preferred Epic EMR experience required Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum Must be able to circulate for deliveries Must have newborn care skills including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments Skilled in high risk delivery support, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation and recovery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, and Terbutaline Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension Skilled in fetal monitoring and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Experience with pain management modalities including epidural anesthesia and pain assessment Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required Additional Information Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, delivery, and postpartum services Function as Baby Nurse/Baby Catcher during delivery and provide ongoing newborn care through transfer to postpartum Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with high risk and vaginal deliveries Care follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing and practice standards Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation using radiant warmers Support breastfeeding and lactation, and provide postpartum wound and perineal care Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 50 mile radius First time travelers are welcome to apply Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a minimum 3 month separation Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; post-offer requests may not be accommodated Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities and refusal to float may impact assignment continuation American Traveler Job ID P-740137.
