Acute Care Medicine RN - $32-48 per hour

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Care for a nursing role in Valley Park, Missouri. The position is ongoing and staff‑based at Unit 14400/14500 Acute Care Medicine, Barnes‑Jewish Hospital (South Campus), a 38‑bed unit. Job Overview Acute Care Medicine serves patients with a full range of clinical issues, including significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and other complex conditions. The unit is led by a clinical manager, a charge nurse, and supported by an advanced practice nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist, forming a multidisciplinary team that works with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. Responsibilities Provides direct patient care activities within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, home‑care needs, and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, and in professional development. Develops individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, the patient, and the family or caregiver. Communicates the plan of care across the continuum of care, proactively ensuring continuity. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, considering values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Maintains constant alertness and safe working practices as a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. License: Registered Nurse (RN). Experience: None required; supervisor experience not required. Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
