ENGINEER INTERN II (CLASS CODE 4021)

Intermediate professional civil engineering work in the research, design and construction of engineering projects; and related work as required. Qualifications Permanent status with the City of New Orleans or the Sewerage and Water Board as an Engineer Intern I (formerly Engineer‑In‑Training I) and eighteen (18) months of experience as an Engineer Intern I. Possession of a certificate from the Louisiana State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors stating that the applicant has been certified and enrolled as an Engineer Intern* and eighteen (18) months of engineering experience following EIT Certification. Out-of-State registrations are acceptable. However, any applicant who is not registered as an Engineer Intern in Louisiana must, if hired, show proof of such registration during his or her probationary period. No person may receive permanent status until this requirement has been met, and no probationary period may extend longer than one (1) year. Field work may be required for some engineering positions. Employees may be required to have automobiles for some positions. An automobile allowance is usually granted when this is a requirement. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
