SENIOR ENGINEER DIVISION MANAGER (CLASS CODE 4029)

Responsibilities Professional, supervisory, administrative and technical work directing and evaluating all activities for major multiple engineering divisions in the design, construction, and operation of a public works system. This includes assigning and reviewing the work of lower‑level professional, technical, and/or administrative supervisors; establishing and monitoring management controls for the assigned operational area; and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Qualifications Registration as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana. At least nine (9) years of professional engineering experience, including: Four (4) years of supervisory responsibilities. Five (5) years in sewer, water, drainage, and/or power infrastructure systems. For promotional openings: Permanent status with the City of New Orleans at a pay grade equal to or higher than 96. At least four (4) years of exempt‐level professional engineering experience with supervisory responsibilities. Additional Eligibility Requirements One (1) year probationary period for all original entrance and promotional appointments. Medical examination required for all original entrance probationary appointments to active classifications. Good moral character required; applicants may be disqualified for dishonesty or misrepresentation. Current driver's license may be required for identification purposes during examination phases. Out‑of‑state registrations are acceptable; non‑Louisiana registered engineers must provide proof of registration within the probationary period. Domicile in Orleans Parish is required for new full‑time employees hired on or after January 1, 2013; eligibility is normally waived for the application process and may be granted on a case‑by‑case basis.
