ENGINEERING DIVISION MANAGER (CHIEF TRAFFIC ENGINEER) (CLASS CODE 4028)

Responsibilities Direct and evaluate all activities of the Traffic Division, overseeing a staff of professional engineering, technical and administrative employees. Manage approximately 400 signalized intersections, oversee multimodal transportation systems, coordinate street signage, and handle right‑of‑way permits. Align traffic policies with modern engineering standards, reduce congestion, and improve public safety. Required Qualifications Registration as a professional engineer (out‑of‑state registrations acceptable). Proof of registration must be provided within the probationary period; permanent status is contingent on meeting this requirement within one year. At least seven (7) years of professional engineering experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities and four (4) years in traffic operations engineering. Preferred civil, transportation, traffic, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering background. Current certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or eligibility to take the PTOE certification exam is strongly preferred.
