At Marias Technology, we do not build our own system, we support a large number of systems created for the insurance industry by our vendor partners. Marias Business Analysts translate our customers' business needs into clear requirements and specifications that configuration, development, and testing teams can act on. As part of this you will own specification writing for complex initiatives, propose solutions when system functionality doesn't align with business needs, and help our customers get the system behavior they actually need. And it's our job to help our customers succeed.

As a Senior Business Analyst on our Business Analysis team, you'll operate with significant independence-owning specification writing for complex initiatives, translating insurance business needs into system requirements, and proposing solutions when insurance requirements don't align with existing system functionality. You'll flex into testing or test-management support as needed, and mentor other Business Analysts along the way.

What you'll do

This role builds on the Business Analyst position, with more ownership across complex initiatives.

You'll:

• Write detailed, testable functional specifications-spanning both off-the-shelf configuration and customization needs-from business requirements and system analysis
• Review manuals, screens, and system behavior in depth to translate complex needs into specifications
• Translate insurance business needs into system requirements and own specification writing for complex initiatives
• Propose solutions when insurance business needs do not align with current system functionality
• Lead or support requirements walkthroughs and specification reviews with technical and business stakeholders
• Independently lead client meetings and requirements sessions
• Design test scenarios and, when needed, execute or oversee testing and testing management for assigned initiatives
• Map data flows between system components and identify downstream impacts of requirement changes
• Write billing specifications and identify billing-related gaps between requirements and system capability
• Write integration specifications and coordinate with technical teams on third-party data exchanges
• May assign and review the work of other Business Analysts, and oversee their adherence to project timelines
• Mentor other Business Analysts
• Lead training sessions for client personnel on new or modified functional/business applications software
• Prioritize across multiple concurrent workstreams
• Present a professional appearance and demeanor in social situations, and be prepared to participate in trade shows or customer visits

What you need

Required

• Associate's degree in a related field; equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree
• Microsoft (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) experience
• 3+ years of experience in business analysis or insurance systems work
• Proficiency with requirements/documentation and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, DevStride)
• Deep working knowledge of insurance functional areas: policy, rating, billing, claims, and print/output
• Deep working knowledge of billing rules, plans, and configuration within at least one Policy Admin System
• Working knowledge of integration architecture: data mapping, file/API exchange formats, and dependency identification
• Ability to work full-time, in-office in Covington, OH
• Ability to travel up to 25% for trade shows and client visits

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Management, Accounting, or a related field
• Experience with insurance carrier software implementation or system upgrade projects

About the pay range

$65,000-$95,000 depending on experience. The starting salary depends on a variety of factors, including geographic location, relevant experience, and qualifications-tell us honestly where you are and we'll do the same.

What we offer

Pay: $65,000-$95,000/year depending on experience, paid semi-monthly (15th and end of month) via direct deposit
