The professional roles and activities include clinical/educational services, direct treatment, and documentation. Qualifications Completion of certified training program for Speech Language Pathology Assistant License from the Arizona Department of Health Services BA or AA Degree, or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) Performance Responsibilities Conduct prevention and pre‑referral education to teachers and staff Consult with teachers, school staff, and parents as needed Provide direct treatment, identified by the supervising SLP, following the written individualized education treatment plans Offer intervention strategies to staff for carry‑over of students' speech and language goals and objectives Complete required daily documentation Assist the SLP in data collection and tallying for assessment purposes without interpreting data When possible, act as a native language interpreter during meetings Attend parent conferences and IEP meetings with permission from the supervising SLP and written documentation. Interpretation of data and/or changes in the treatment plan cannot occur without the SLP's input. An SLPA may not write formal screening, diagnostic, progress, or discharge notes An SLPA may not perform any task without approval from the supervising SLP Meet any specific job requirements indicated by the district Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions Some positions may require climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible force constantly to move objects. If arm and/or leg controls require exertion greater than for sedentary work, the job is rated as Light Work.
