Vice President of Sustainability and Impact

Vice President of Sustainability & Impact SH Hotels & Resorts is searching for a forward‑thinking Vice President of Sustainability & Impact to manage and measure sustainability initiatives across Starwood Hotels. Responsibilities include reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Operations and the Sustainability Governance Committee. Responsibilities Sustainability Work with the CEO and Sustainability Governance Committee to enhance and build on global sustainability initiatives. Create and manage internal educational materials, conduct training sessions across departments, and support communication of sustainable efforts. Work with People Operations and Corporate Operations teams to evaluate sustainability performance against SOPs. Liaise with hotel operations and staff to keep sustainability information up to date, building effective relationships with store management and using internal communication tools. Procure and centralize sustainability reporting (recycling, energy, water, etc.) and act as the main consolidator to inform initiative statistics. Create reports and presentations to present sustainability ideas to cross‑functional teams, external partners, and leadership. Communicate key programs and KPIs with investor relations and develop investor‑focused communications collateral. Develop internal reporting framework and resource library for ongoing sustainability programming to support marketing and communication teams. Manage and oversee waste, recycling, food waste, and source reduction strategies for each property. Support annual data collection and report out against KPIs, informing education needed for property‑level teams. Develop and perform sustainability training for property‑level teams. Maintain and update a database of communications, key facts, and stories for press releases, interview questions, or marketing collateral. Provide internal educational communications digitally and support internal team engagement, serving as point of contact for property‑level sustainability teams. Contribute to overall sustainability framework and strategy with internal and external goals/KPIs. Marketing Manage the overall sustainability activity calendar, creating partnerships with local organizations and developing brand‑related local events. Develop media and marketing materials related to sustainability, including annual corporate campaigns and property‑level fact sheets. Execute and maintain a communications, marketing, and branding strategy to drive the sustainability narrative through creative and engaging storytelling across digital and print platforms. Create internal and external educational materials, including property‑level trainings, SOPs, company‑wide newsletters, social media support, and online materials. Identify, measure, and report key metrics to evaluate the impact of communications and marketing strategies, recommending next‑level goals. Development Create and maintain educational/sales materials for development pitch decks demonstrating sustainable benefits. Participate in discussions with prospective developers and consultants to educate and secure commitment to sustainability guidelines. Food & Beverage On an annual basis, evaluate properties to establish best practices and improvement areas, develop action plans for F&B sustainability performance and storytelling. Create a strategic plan for achieving overarching F&B identity goals. Perform quarterly audits against goals, implementing course corrections as needed. Provide sustainability training for local F&B teams. Support marketing team on communications, press releases, and storytelling to reinforce brand identity. Vet and review products and partners for sustainability requirements. Engineering / Buildings Work with Sustainability and Engineering teams to measure and report key metrics, recommending next‑level communication goals. Assist in creating reports and presentations, centralizing sustainability reporting data to present new ideas across teams and partners. Translate sustainability outcomes into action with case studies, communicating through the 1 Hotels App, website, onsite signage, or in‑person channels. Manage third‑party consultants for internal, investor, and stakeholder annual reports. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of similar technical experience and supervisory experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professionalism. Must possess legal work authorization to work in the United States. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Communications, Engineering, or related field. Experience with sustainability metrics, reporting, and stakeholder engagement is strong.
