Payroll Specialist

Time & Pay Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Payroll Specialist to join our team. We are a locally owned payroll service bureau providing payroll and related services to businesses across a variety of industries.


This position combines payroll processing, client service, organization, and problem-solving. The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable managing multiple responsibilities, and interested in developing long-term payroll knowledge and skills.


Prior payroll experience is helpful, but not required. We provide on-the-job training for candidates who demonstrate strong customer service skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and an ability to learn new systems and processes.

Responsibilities
• Process client payrolls accurately and within established deadlines
• Review and enter payroll-related information, including new hires, pay changes, deductions, tax updates, and other client requests
• Prioritize daily responsibilities based on payroll schedules and client needs
• Prepare and review payroll information with clients before processing
• Respond to client emails and telephone calls in a professional and timely manner
• Upload and reconcile retirement, HSA, Workers' Compensation, and other payroll-related files
• Research payroll questions by reviewing system history, documentation, correspondence, and account records
• Maintain accurate client notes and documentation
• Protect confidential payroll, employee, and company information
• Work effectively across multiple software platforms
• Assist with identifying opportunities to improve workflows and internal processes

Helpful Experience

The following experience is helpful, but not required:
• Payroll or timekeeping experience
• Payentry or Millennium
• SwipeClock or TimeWorksPlus
• Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, basic formulas, and working with data imports

Compensation & Benefits
• Starting pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour, based on relevant experience and qualifications
