About the Position

Candidates must hold a valid California RN license. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are required. Three years of ICU experience is required, with four years preferred. Candidates must be willing to rotate weekends. Responsibilities include managing arterial lines, assisting with chest tube insertion and removal, and administering blood products. Care of ventilated patients, central line management, and continual IV sedation are essential skills required for this role. Management of patients with chronic or acute renal failure, including CVVHD/CRRT and ECMO, is expected. Candidates must be proficient in interpreting arterial blood gases and managing dysrhythmias. Suctioning techniques, phlebotomy, and procedural sedation administration and monitoring are also part of the responsibilities. The nurse will support interdisciplinary teams that include physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Flexibility to float to other units as needed is required. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients and has approximately 36 beds. Expected patient care ratios during days and weekends are typically 2:1. Candidates should have strong skills in ventilator management and the care of patients with traumatic brain injuries. The environment is fast-paced, with approximately 30 patients daily. Merit in patient care, adherence to infection prevention protocols, and prompt response to critical situations will be essential. The role supports adherence to hospital policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
