Job Information Job no: 555678 Work type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer Location: Los Angeles, California Categories: Unit 3 – CFA – California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time, Faculty – Health Sciences College & Department College: Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services Department of Public Health Instructional Faculty – Part-time Temporary/Lecturer Pool Position Overview The Public Health Department at the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services, Cal State LA, is seeking applications for a pool of part‑time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026‑2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester. Part‑time faculty lecturers are hired with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with occasional full‑year appointments. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester, so candidates may need to be available on short notice. Minimum Qualifications Appropriate degree from an accredited university. Experience and demonstrated excellence in college‑level teaching. At least a bachelor’s degree with substantial professional experience for lower division undergraduate courses; a master’s degree for upper division courses; and a master’s or doctoral degree for graduate courses. Ability to relate well within the academic environment and demonstrate interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching. Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and training in fields related to health sciences. Doctoral or terminal degree. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, times, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. Compensation Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary schedule based on Lecturer A–D ranks (per salary schedule 7/1/2024). Lecturer A/2 – $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B/3 – $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C/4 – $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D/5 – $8,593 – $15,211 per month Anticipated monthly hiring range generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Required Documentation Cover letter specifically addressing minimum and preferred qualifications. List of CSU courses previously taught and/or courses or topic areas qualified for and requesting consideration to teach in the upcoming academic year. Official transcripts upon hire offer and prior to employment. Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
