Accounts Payable Specialist (Temp-to-Hire) Compensation $30-35 per hour commensurate with experience Benefits & Growth Hybrid work: four remote days, one in-person day (Monday) in The Bronx Engage in a highly collaborative team within a respected nonprofit Opportunity to support AP process automation and gain software implementation experience Why This Opportunity Stands Out Mission-driven nonprofit with direct CFO visibility and impact Business-critical AP role supporting 60+ active funding contracts Exposure to automation with planned AvidXchange integration Highly stable team environment and measurable path to perm hire Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist Drive AP accuracy and timeliness by overseeing all invoices, check requests, and credit card receipts through a centralized Outlook AP inbox Review, process, and allocate invoices against multiple contracts, ensuring strict compliance with required signatures and documentation Set up new vendors, ensure collection of all necessary paperwork, and manage documentation integrity for ongoing and year-end reporting Maintain clear, responsive communication with internal teams to resolve inquiries and prioritize AP deadlines Lead ongoing improvements in AP processes and support upcoming automation/technology transitions Qualifications 5+ years full-cycle accounts payable experience, ideally in dynamic nonprofit or contract-driven settings Advanced Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, SUMIF formulas, file uploads) Demonstrated ability to manage complex cost allocations and high-detail documentation Location Bronx, NY
