Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer - OpenShift Platform

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience administering Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes in production, including installation and upgrade approaches such as IPI/UPI, Operators, SCC/RBAC, cluster operators, and ingress.
• Experience with day-2 operations for Kubernetes or container platforms, including upgrades, scaling, troubleshooting, and platform lifecycle management.
• Experience with OpenShift Virtualization/KubeVirt or an equivalent VM-on-Kubernetes platform, including VM and container co-tenancy considerations.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including system performance, certificates, OS configuration, and cluster node operations.
• Deep troubleshooting experience in at least two of these areas: networking, storage, and virtualization.
• Experience designing and operating highly available platforms, including capacity management, incident handling, root-cause analysis, and remediation tracking.
• Experience partnering with security and compliance stakeholders on hardening, RBAC, secrets and certificates handling, and vulnerability management aligned with secure-by-default configurations.
• Experience applying infrastructure automation and configuration-as-code practices, such as Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps, with traceability and auditability.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in the work environment for infrastructure engineering workflows, with strong output validation and awareness of data sensitivity.
• Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate uncertainty, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
• Familiarity with OpenShift observability stacks, such as Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, logging, and tracing, and with operational maturity practices.
• Experience with service mesh, ingress controllers, API gateways, or platform networking plugins relevant to the technology stack.
• Experience with enterprise storage technologies and their performance and failure characteristics in containerized environments.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools for research, troubleshooting, and documentation, with appropriate governance.

• Design on-premises and/or hybrid OpenShift cluster architectures to meet availability, scalability, security, and operability requirements.
• Build and operate OpenShift clusters end to end, including installation, upgrades, patching, scaling, resilience testing, and virtualization capabilities that support VM lifecycles.
• Engineer the platform for Kubernetes and VM workloads, including capacity planning, performance management, workload placement, and high-availability and disaster-recovery considerations.
• Maintain Linux platform foundations needed for reliable cluster operations, including RHEL/CoreOS concepts, kernel and sysctl tuning, certificates, and identity integration basics.
• Implement and troubleshoot core networking capabilities, including routing and switching, DNS, L4/L7 concepts, load balancing, firewalls, segmentation, and packet-path analysis.
• Integrate storage services for container and VM workloads, covering block, file, and object storage concepts, CSI drivers, performance, failure modes, and backup and restore approaches.
• Drive platform reliability through observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventative improvements throughout the platform lifecycle.
• Develop runbooks, standards, and reference architectures; lead operational readiness reviews and follow up on post-incident actions.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to analyze complex infrastructure signals and document mitigation options, validating outputs and handling operational data according to its sensitivity and security requirements.
• Promote reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation to reduce recurring issues, ensuring changes are validated, traceable, auditable, and consistent with resiliency and security expectations.
