The Social is seeking an experienced, creative, and passionate Head Chef to lead the culinary program for our new restaurant and bar in Glendale. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the food identity of a hospitality-driven concept focused on exceptional service, quality ingredients, and memorable guest experiences.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with proven operational expertise, a talent for menu development, and a commitment to building and mentoring high-performing kitchen teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all back-of-house operations with a focus on quality, consistency, efficiency, and execution.
• Develop seasonal menus, recipes, and food presentations aligned with The Social's culinary vision and brand standards.
• Oversee recipe standardization, food costing, purchasing, inventory control, and waste management.
• Collaborate closely with ownership and management to support operational goals and overall business success.
• Ensure full compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and manage all kitchen staff.
• Foster a positive, professional, and accountable kitchen culture.
• Manage monthly inventory processes and maintain accurate reporting and controls.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Manage labor scheduling and operational expenses while maximizing productivity and profitability.
• Maintain high culinary standards and continuously seek opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or comparable leadership role.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
• Proven experience with menu development, recipe creation, and kitchen administration.
• Comprehensive understanding of food costing, inventory management, purchasing, and restaurant financial controls.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Passion for hospitality, mentorship, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
