Payroll Specialist

Job Description

Support payroll processing for approximately 4,500 associates across multiple states, ensuring payroll data is accurate, compliant, and processed on time. Responsibilities include auditing payroll information received from various departments and systems, reviewing payroll registers and reports, updating employee earnings and deductions, processing weekly, biweekly, and semimonthly payrolls, handling off-cycle payments, calculating overpayments and repayment agreements, and researching and resolving payroll discrepancies. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in maintaining payroll accuracy while supporting a high-volume, fast-paced payroll environment.

Skills and Requirements

Recent payroll processing experience in a high-volume environment

Experience processing payroll for large employee populations (1,000+ employees preferred)

Hands-on Workday experience

Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, earnings, deductions, and overtime calculations

Experience auditing payroll data, payroll registers, and system-generated reports

Ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions

Experience processing weekly, biweekly, and semimonthly payroll cycles

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting Experience supporting multi-state payroll processing

Experience calculating overpayments and managing repayment agreements

Knowledge of off-cycle payroll processing

Previous experience in a large corporate environment

Exposure to payroll tax reporting and compliance activities

Experience with payroll reconciliations and management reporting

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification or progress toward certification preferred
