Principal Scientist, In vivo Pharmacology, Neuroinflammation/Neurodegeneration

Pfizer's Inflammation & Immunology Research Unit seeks a Principal Scientist to lead preclinical in vivo pharmacology strategy for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. The role combines scientific leadership, advanced model development, and cross-functional team collaboration to advance the neurodegeneration pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Lead in vivo pharmacology strategy and serve as scientific authority on multidisciplinary project teams
• Design, optimize, and oversee preclinical studies to evaluate target engagement, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy
• Pioneer and validate next-generation rodent disease models and advanced behavioral/physiological readouts
• Direct data analysis, statistical evaluation, and regulatory documentation including IACUC protocols
• Mentor scientific staff and interface with academic collaborators and CROs to advance pipeline innovation

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Neurobiology, or related field with 5+ years post-doctoral/industry experience
• Deep knowledge of neuroinflammatory pathways, microglial-astrocyte interactions, and Alzheimer's pathophysiology
• Extensive experience designing and executing rodent pharmacology studies, target engagement assays, and PK/PD modeling
• Proven track record establishing novel animal models and developing behavioral or physiological endpoints
• Proficiency in ex vivo techniques: immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, gene expression profiling, cytokine quantification
• Strong histology skills and experience with laboratory animals in biotech or pharma settings
• Familiarity with small molecule, biologic, or RNA-based therapeutic discovery pipelines

Compensation: $106,000-$176,600 base
