We're currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team, focused on organising and managing our internal accounting processes and ensuring accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting. As we build out our operational structure, this role will establish and continuously improve our accounting procedures, internal controls, and DATEV workflows, working in close coordination with our external accounting firm.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating all accounting activities with the external accounting firm, including document flow and the timely submission of complete, accurate documentation;
- Leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities and ensuring accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting;
- Reviewing accounting postings, VAT returns, payroll data, and statutory financial statements prepared by the external firm;
- Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, including reconciliations with customers, suppliers, and banks, and supporting payment processes and cash flow monitoring;
- Developing accounting policies under German GAAP and improving internal controls and DATEV workflows;
- Performing materials accounting, including inventory tracking, stock control, valuation, and reconciliations;
- Supporting production and project-related accounting, including construction projects, cost-centre accounting, production cost calculation, and cost allocation;
- Preparing internal financial reports and analyses for management, and supporting audits and tax inspections.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field;
- Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, with an independent and responsible approach to accounting processes;
- Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (German GAAP) and tax regulations;
- Experience with DATEV and inventory accounting (Materialbuchhaltung);
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or other project-based industries is a strong advantage;
- Advanced MS Excel skills, and fluency in German and English.
