About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of postpartum experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, IV certification Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of postpartum experience - IV start skills and labor & delivery experience - EPIC experience Description: Schedule may require floating to units with similar acuity. Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of postpartum experience. BLS and IV certification are required. IV start skills and labor & delivery experience is required. Experience with the EPIC charting system is preferred. Previous travel nursing experience is preferred. Responsibilities include administration of blood products and antihypertensives. Provide bladder assessments and Foley catheter insertions. Offer breastfeeding instructions and care for cesarean section patients. Conduct cord care and provide couplet care. Deliver discharge teaching to parents. Perform episiotomy and incision care. Manage fundus, lochia, and perineum care. Administer IV antibiotics and monitor low birth weight infants. Handle magnesium sulfate therapy and perform metabolic screening. Conduct newborn assessments and recognize newborn hypoglycemia. Provide phototherapy and pain assessment and management. Implement thermoregulation and administer vaccines. This role requires telemetry interpretation skills. The RN must be willing to pass an EKG exam prior to the start of the assignment. The unit provides family-centered care to women and infants.
