Project Manager I

Seeking to fill two openings in the Department of Public Works. Salary is based on experience and/or qualifications, and is subject to negotiation.

Manages capital improvement projects in the Public Works Department from the planning to closeout to ensure compliance with all City standards and regulations. Work is performed under direction with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Seeks technical guidance on unusual or complex problems or issues.

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or closely related field; supplemented by five or more years' experience in construction management and/or public works engineering and infrastructure projects; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment. Project Management Professional (PMP) and Professional Engineer (PE) certifications are preferred. Must have a valid Florida driver's license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of training and experience; psychological evaluation; polygraph examination; background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screen.
