Cardiac Surgery PCU Registered Nurse – Location: Valley Park, Missouri Employment Type: Staff Overview Registered Nurse needed for the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Barnes‑Jewish Hospital. The role involves direct patient care for post‑operative cardiac patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient/family education. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care for post‑surgical cardiac patients in a progressive care environment. Assess and evaluate patient’s physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs following standards of nursing care. Plan and document individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team. Communicate and coordinate the plan of care across the continuum of care. Educate patients and families on disease management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration. Promote patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Participate in patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance activities. Engage in professional development and promote best practices. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: No prior experience required. License: Active RN license in Missouri. Safety‑sensitive position: Maintain constant alertness and safe work practices. Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nursing. Experience: Experience in cardiac, acute or critical care settings. Certification: Preferred but not required certifications such as RN, BTS.
