Company OverviewTango Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering novel drug targets and delivering the next generation of precision medicine for the treatment of cancer.Using an approach that starts and ends with patients, Tango leverages the genetic principle of synthetic lethality to discover and develop therapies that take aim at critical targets in cancer.This includes expanding the universe of precision oncology targets into novel areas such as tumor suppressor gene loss and their contribution to the ability of cancer cells to evade immune cell killing.The Tango labs and offices are located at 201 Brookline Avenue, in the Fenway area of Boston, Massachusetts.Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated attorney to join our team as Executive Director, Commercial Law/Commercial Contracts. Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel, this role will lead the commercial legal function and serve as a strategic partner to Tango’s growing Medical Affairs, Commercial, Patient Support, Market Access & Reimbursement functions as the Company advances toward its first commercial launch. This role will be responsible for providing hands-on, day-to-day legal advice on a wide range of strategic initiatives, including pre-launch activities, market access activities, patient support programs, and materials review (advertising/promotion and medical/scientific communications) and will lead the negotiation of commercial contracts.The ideal candidate will bring excellent judgment, executive presence, broad-based expertise, and practical business orientation. This leader will be both a strategic advisor and a hands-on matter owner, able to build scalable processes, partner effectively across the enterprise, and translate complex legal risk into clear, actionable guidance for business leaders and the Executive Leadership Team.Responsibilities:Provide pragmatic and solutions-oriented legal advice to the company’s rapidly growing commercial and medical affairs organizationsIdentify and resolve critical legal and business issues associated with pre-launch activities and launch strategy, including medical (e.g., MSL activities and programs), disease awareness, sales, marketing (brand messaging, activities and campaigns), patient advocacy programs, advisory boards, and other business activitiesServe as a subject matter expert on U.S. healthcare laws, FDA promotional regulations and industry codes to enable legal and compliant pre-launch, launch and ongoing commercial and medical activitiesWith the support of outside counsel as needed, lead the negotiation of business agreements in support of Tango’s anticipated product launches, including those with vendors, healthcare professionals, specialty pharmacies, patient support vendors, payor agreements, and distributorsProvide ongoing contracting support and lifecycle management, including agreement interpretation and risk analysis, for Tango’s commercial, medical affairs, patient support, and other teamsAs a member of the Legal and Compliance Team, actively contribute to the function by building a positive culture, fostering engagement, sharing best practices and participating in initiatives focused on building departmental and functional knowledge and competenciesEducation & ExperienceJ.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdictionA minimum of 10-12 years of commercial law experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in a biotech company’s legal departmentIn-house experience at a pharmaceutical/biotech company strongly preferred, experience supporting a company through its first launch idealAbility to interpret legal requirements and deliver pragmatic, business-oriented guidanceDeep knowledge of FDA promotional regulations, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, OIG guidance, and industry codes, and ability to stay current on evolving trends and enforcement prioritiesExperience reviewing promotional and medical materials as a Legal reviewerStrong business partnering orientation with ability to balance risk and business goalsProven capability to manage multiple priorities and collaborative effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; flexible and able to adapt to new situations as the business requiresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.Salary range $267,200—$400,800 USD
