Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying specific mental and emotional support needs based on individual circumstances.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions aimed at addressing the emotional challenges associated with aging, grief, and addiction recovery.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to create and implement individualized care plans that reflect best practices and evidence-based strategies for geriatric mental health support.
• Educate family members and clinic staff about effective strategies to improve the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly clients.
• Provide specialized grief and loss counseling to residents and their families dealing with end-of-life issues, ensuring a compassionate approach during difficult times.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and tailored mental health interventions designed to enhance mental acuity and overall well-being among elderly individuals.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on the geriatric population, particularly those experiencing mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and addiction. Our clinic addresses the complexities that arise as clients navigate the aging process, ensuring that our services not only meet their mental health needs but also contribute to their overall quality of life. As an LMHC, you will play a crucial role in fostering resilience and promoting emotional health among this vulnerable demographic.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in the state of Massachusetts.
• A minimum of four years of relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support, particularly in addiction-related issues.
• Specialized training in geriatric mental health and aging-related challenges is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering impactful counseling services to elderly individuals dealing with diverse mental health issues.
• A strong understanding of evidence-based interventions that promote mental well-being in the elderly population.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop trusting relationships with older adult clients.
• Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity to effectively support older adults from various backgrounds.

Preferred Experience

• Background in group therapy facilitation and evidence-based program implementation in a geriatric setting.
• Experience engaging with multispecialty healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Ability to conduct interdisciplinary training sessions for staff and community members regarding mental health best practices.

Compensation and Benefits
