GTS Laboratory Materials Technician

GTS Laboratory Materials Technician Location : Coraopolis, PA – only residents of Coraopolis and nearby cities may apply. Job Details – Full Time – Coraopolis, PA Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests of materials under direction of Laboratory Manager. Test materials include soil, concrete, aggregate, geosynthetics, and other materials. General Responsibilities Process, prepare, and test samples for geotechnical testing. Comply with safety guidelines and maintain sample collection records, location data, laboratory documentation, and logbooks. Communicate effectively with laboratory manager, team, and clients. Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results. Support process improvements. Clean and maintain an organized work area. Participate in management of sample inventory, archival, and disposal. Teamwork and Communication in Laboratory Operations Work collaboratively within laboratory teams, contributing to shared responsibilities. Take instructions from laboratory management and colleagues, adapting to direction and maintaining flexibility. Provide and receive guidance among peers, ensuring clear communication and mutual support. Ask questions and seek clarification to ensure accuracy in procedures. Offer instruction or assistance to teammates when appropriate, promoting knowledge sharing. Maintain open, respectful communication, fostering a culture centered on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Requirements Computer proficiency for entry of data from testing and support of report preparation. Work in a team environment with other staff members to maintain a clean and organized laboratory in compliance with QA/QC initiatives and accreditation requirements. Assist with other laboratory functions as necessary. Lift more than 50 pounds. Work off shifts and overtime as required. Read and understand test instructions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to kneel and squat occasionally. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing or inspection of concrete, soil, asphalt, and/or masonry materials. Applicable ACI or ICC certifications are highly desired.
