Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts with hours of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless requested by the employee
• Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation required with holidays as needed
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• Self-scheduling unit
• 2 years of acute care experience required within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Experience starting IVs required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Telemetry exam must be passed prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher - traveler has two attempts to pass
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only) and RN license
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients - staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
• Daily census of 20 patients with 25 rooms on the unit
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula/oxygen administration, PCA, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, and prior law enforcement patient care experience
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary

The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services and operates a specialized med/surg unit that includes care for both general adult patients and Department of Corrections patients within a secure locked wing environment.
