Field Engineer

Expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 depending on experience. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future. Field Engineer – Los Angeles, CA Description Tutor Perini Corporation is looking for a Field Engineer to provide technical engineering information to construction management and crafts to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the engineered design, technical requirements, engineering standards, and codes. Responsibilities Read and interpret Contract, Drawings, Specifications, Standards, and related technical documents in order to maintain the construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. Research and resolve drawing interpretations problems, conflicts, interferences, and the like. Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times. Manage the preparation of RFI’s and related Submittals. Support planning and technical issues. Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed. Manage the effective utilization of technical expertise within the Project Management team. Coordinate Field Engineering activities with Construction Management team. Monitor and participate daily in field construction process. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance. Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables. Field verify to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications and contract. Ensure as-builts updated as required by contract. Document daily, take pictures of work performed, and record conversations held. Maintain a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures. Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices. Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work. Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction. Requirements Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. 5 - 7 years of heavy civil construction experience. Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, standards and procedures. Experience with Utility / Underground / Concrete Structures Construction preferred. Commitment to safety and quality. Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies. Strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
