The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), under the supervision of the Senior Director of Special Services, is responsible for assessing, identifying, and providing speech language services to scholars in grades PK-12 with communication disorders that impact educational performance. The SLP provides direct and indirect therapeutic services, conducts speech language evaluations, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and serves as a resource to staff and families regarding speech, language, communication, and related developmental needs. The SLP is responsible for maintaining accurate, legally compliant documentation and ensuring that speech language services are delivered in accordance with each scholar’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides direct and indirect speech language therapy services to scholars in accordance with IEP service recommendations and district expectations. Conducts comprehensive speech language evaluations and reevaluations to determine the presence of communication disorders, their educational impact, and eligibility for special education or related services as applicable. Administers, scores, and interprets a variety of speech language assessments in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, voice, and other communication needs. Completes observations, interviews, record reviews, and other assessment procedures as part of the evaluation process. Prepares clear, comprehensive, and legally defensible evaluation reports that communicate findings, eligibility considerations, and educational recommendations. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, school-based intervention team meetings, eligibility meetings, manifestation determination reviews, and ARD/IEP meetings when applicable to communicate evaluation findings and support scholar planning. Develops and implements individualized therapy plans and evidence-based intervention strategies based on evaluation results and identified scholar needs. Monitors scholar progress toward speech language IEP goals, documents progress consistently, and adjusts therapy approaches based on data. Maintains therapy schedules and service logs to ensure services are provided with fidelity, including completion of make-up sessions when required. Collaborates with teachers, administrators, parents, related service providers, and other staff to support scholar communication needs across educational settings. Provides consultation to staff and families regarding speech and language development, communication strategies, classroom supports, and interventions. Assists school personnel in identifying and understanding the needs of scholars with communication deficits and supports problem‑solving around appropriate interventions. Supports the development and implementation of staff training related to communication development, language supports, and speech language service delivery. Compiles, maintains, and files all required reports, records, progress documentation, Medicaid or service logs if applicable, and other documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Develops and maintains effective relationships with scholars, parents, colleagues, and community partners. Maintains confidentiality of all scholar information and records. Assists in the selection of speech language assessment materials, therapy tools, and other relevant equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution required. Valid Texas license in Speech Language Pathology required. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred; Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates may be considered. Experience providing speech language services in a school setting preferred. Bilingual skills in Spanish highly preferred. Knowledge and Skills Deep-seated belief in the mission and vision of Austin Achieve. Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure all scholars reach their full potential. Strong knowledge of speech language development, communication disorders, and evidence-based therapeutic practices in school settings. Demonstrated ability to administer, score, and interpret speech language assessments and synthesize multiple sources of data into meaningful recommendations. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing special education, evaluation procedures, and related speech language services. Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, scholars, and multidisciplinary teams. Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of scholars, parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues.
