About the Position

Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

Seeking two Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) to provide hospital-based inpatient obstetric coverage in a high-acuity academic medical center. One provider is needed for day shifts and one for night shifts. Responsibilities include labor and delivery, postpartum care, OB triage, resident support, and inpatient consultations.

Compensation: Hourly: $85/hr, Holiday: $115/hr, Overtime: $85/hr.

Start Date: July 6, 2026


Contract Length: 13 weeks


12-hour shifts:


Days: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM


Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Responsibilities


Manage normal labor and vaginal deliveries


Provide intrapartum and postpartum care


Perform OB triage evaluations


Support obstetric residents


Provide inpatient consultations


Complete histories, physical examinations, and appropriate laboratory evaluations


Assess maternal and fetal status throughout labor


Interpret fetal monitoring


Manage the third stage of labor


Perform episiotomy and perineal repairs


Identify and manage deviations from normal labor


Provide ongoing patient education throughout pregnancy

Practice Details


Average of 4-5 deliveries per day (may be as high as 20)


Adult and newborn patient population


No first assist responsibilities

EMR: Epic

Requirements


Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)


Board Certified


Active Massachusetts license


BLS certification


NRP certification


Minimum of 3 years of experience


Recent hospital-based midwifery experience required


Ability to interpret fetal monitoring


Experience working in a high-acuity obstetric environment
