SOUS CHEF (HARBOR EAST)

Sous Chef Position

Kneads Bakeshop is expanding and preparing to open a new location in Navy Yard, Washington, DC. We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations, manage food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of food quality and presentation.

From humble beginnings, one small bakery in Baltimore has grown to become a staple in our community. Kneads combines H&S's history with the new age of artisan craft, creating a one-of-a-kind brand and experience, giving a modern face to H&S Bakery. Role & Responsibilities

Assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, and plating.

Supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during high-volume service.

Maintain inventory levels, monitor food costs, and minimize waste.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and food handling standards.

Develop and execute menu items in line with the restaurant and bakery's standards and vision.

Ensure food is consistently prepared and presented to the highest standards.

Collaborate with the team to create new menu items and specials.

Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to improve their skills and efficiency.

Manage schedules, delegate tasks, and provide constructive feedback.

Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

Requirements & Physical Demands

Culinary degree or equivalent culinary education preferred.

Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Solid understanding of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
