Principal Infrastructure Engineer - Employee Platforms

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, plus 15+ years of applied infrastructure technology experience and 7+ years in principal engineering or senior leadership roles.
• Proven ownership of enterprise data center hardware strategy in complex environments, including accountability for high-value decisions, business impact, and lifecycle risk management.
• Strong expertise in storage architecture and data center networking tradeoffs for virtual desktop infrastructure, including reliability, scale, and operational supportability.
• Experience with rack-level efficiency and site constraints, including power, cooling, density, cabling, and floor-space optimization across enterprise deployments.
• Ability to shape vendor strategy and build financially rigorous business cases in regulated environments, with strong audit, controls, and executive stakeholder management.
• Strategic, decisive, pragmatic, and outcome-oriented, balancing technical rigor with delivery speed and operational reliability.
• Ability to influence partners, drive adherence to enterprise standards and timelines, and connect architecture decisions to financial outcomes and long-term portfolio value.
• Experience building durable operating models and technical standards, and using AI to accelerate outcomes.
• Preferred: Experience in financial services or similarly regulated sectors with large-scale data center operations and strict resilience expectations.
• Preferred: Experience partnering with end-user compute or virtual desktop infrastructure product teams to align hardware strategy with user demand, service-level objectives, and growth forecasts.
• Preferred: Track record establishing formal hardware governance and evidence-driven portfolio management.
• Preferred: Experience with data center optimization, including telemetry-driven capacity planning and efficiency benchmarking across sites.
• Preferred: Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.

• Define and own a multi-year data center hardware strategy for virtual desktop infrastructure and related services, translating business demand into sequenced, measurable investment roadmaps.
• Establish and operate a hardware decision framework that assesses market, vendor, architecture, and lifecycle trends, and sets standards for storage, networking, rack design, and performance economics.
• Lead cost-value-benefit analysis and develop business cases for major hardware initiatives with product, finance, and control stakeholders.
• Drive cross-functional execution and lifecycle governance with engineering, data center operations, facilities, procurement, cybersecurity, and risk teams, including supply resilience and supportability planning.
• Maintain transparency on outcomes through KPI operating rhythms and governance updates covering capacity, unit economics, reliability trends, and regulatory and control readiness.
• Apply infrastructure engineering expertise and problem-solving methods to plan, deliver, and review work across multiple large-scale projects and technical areas.
