Certified Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist

 

Nation’s Contractor Inc. is seeking an experienced Certified Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. We specialize in commercial roofing and siding projects and are looking for someone who understands the unique payroll, compliance, and accounting requirements of the construction industry.

This position will be responsible for managing certified payroll compliance, prevailing wage requirements, and accounts payable, while working closely with our project management and accounting teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports
• Maintain compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage, and federal/state/local wage requirements
• Review employee classifications and applicable wage determinations
• Track and maintain certified payroll documentation for multiple construction projects
• Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain and review their certified payroll reports and compliance documentation
• Respond to certified payroll discrepancies, compliance notices, and documentation requests
• Process accounts payable invoices and verify proper coding and approvals
• Match invoices to purchase orders, subcontracts, and project/job cost codes
• Track subcontractor invoices, payments, retainage, and supporting documentation
• Assist with AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and subcontractor payment documentation
• Maintain vendor and subcontractor records, including W-9s, insurance certificates, and compliance documents
• Reconcile vendor statements and research invoice/payment discrepancies
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and accounting personnel

 

Qualifications

• Construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage projects required
• Knowledge of Davis-Bacon and government-funded construction projects
• Accounts payable and basic construction accounting experience
• Familiarity with job costing, subcontractor billing, retainage, and AIA payment applications
• Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills
• Experience with construction accounting/project management software is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and weekly compliance deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
