Make a meaningful impact as a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting a unique virtual school initiative near Bessemer, AL. You’ll work onsite at the district office, collaborating closely with the Special Education Director to serve a small caseload of approximately seven students. This is a contract position, offering part-time flexibility with 10 to 20 hours each week, and you’ll play a significant role in shaping the learning experience for students in a virtual setting.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver individualized instruction and academic support tailored to each student’s education plan
- Work directly from the district office in partnership with the Special Education Director
- Utilize strategies and technology specific to virtual education environments
- Monitor progress, assess needs, and maintain open communication with families and staff
- Stay current on best practices in special education and virtual learning
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid and current Special Education Teacher certification/licensure
- Proven experience teaching in virtual schools, remote settings, or similar environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
- Ability to manage small, diverse caseloads while maintaining detailed records
- Commitment to student advocacy and educational innovation
- Professionalism and adaptability in a district office setting
