Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Full-Time Special Education Teacher, supporting K-3 students in a self-contained classroom. This contract-to-hire role places you at the heart of meaningful education, providing dedicated support and tailored instruction to children who need it most. You'll work onsite at a vibrant elementary setting near Woodridge, IL, fostering growth and learning every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student based on their specific needs and goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and classroom materials
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to reach learners at different levels
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs
- Maintain accurate records for compliance and ongoing assessment
- Monitor behavioral, academic, and social progress, making adjustments to instruction as needed
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and valid Illinois LBS1 license (required)
- Experience working with K-3 students preferred
- Background in a self-contained classroom setting highly valued
- Strong understanding of special education law, best practices, and instructional accommodations
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
