About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel with a focus on asset management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal leadership and serving as the senior legal advisor on a wide range of corporate, regulatory, and strategic matters. This includes overseeing regulatory compliance, particularly in the areas of securities laws, investment adviser regulations, fund structures, and broker-dealer activities. The role also involves leading the legal aspects of M&A and other strategic transactions, as well as advising on corporate governance and public company obligations. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, active bar admission, and a minimum of 12 years of legal experience, with a background that includes both law firm and in-house experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical skill set in SEC reporting, securities laws, corporate governance, and M&A transaction support, and must demonstrate excellent judgment, executive presence, and the ability to provide practical business guidance on complex legal issues. Experience in supporting public company legal matters and exposure to investment advisers, funds, or broker-dealer environments is essential. The role requires a professional who can effectively partner with executive leadership and the Board, and who is adept at translating legal and regulatory requirements into business strategies.
