Make an impact in the lives of high school students by providing specialized support in an engaging educational environment. This rewarding contract opportunity focuses on delivering quality instruction to students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral challenges in a self-contained classroom setting. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated support team, using your skills to foster academic and social success from now through June 18, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license (Secondary level required)
- Compliance with the Right to Read Act: Structured Literacy proficiency (either certified now or willing to complete within one year of hire)
- Experience supporting high school students with EBD or significant behavioral needs in a specialized environment
- Strong communication and behavioral management skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans in partnership with staff and families
Responsibilities:
- Support students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and academic growth
- Deliver targeted instruction aligned with IEP goals and state standards
- Create and maintain a positive, structured classroom atmosphere tailored to students’ diverse needs
- Collaborate with related service providers, counselors, and families to ensure holistic student progress
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress, exchanging feedback with the educational team
This position features steady, full-time hours (35 per week), providing consistency in your schedule and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students and staff alike.
