Take on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral needs in a specialized classroom setting. Key Qualifications:

• Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for secondary grade bands
• Compliance with the Right to Read Act—either already certified or able to complete Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire
• Prior experience teaching or supporting high school students with EBD or substantial behavioral challenges, preferably in a self-contained or substantially separate classroom
• Strong classroom management, de-escalation, and communication skills
• Collaborative approach to working with colleagues, administration, and families

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized academic and behavioral instruction to a caseload of high school students within a self-contained classroom
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with student needs and district/state guidelines
• Employ evidence-based interventions and strategies to address behavioral and learning challenges
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary to support ongoing growth
• Engage in regular communication with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members
• Participate in professional development and maintain compliance with all licensing and certification requirements
