Staff Accountant

Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 Location: South Orlando, FL | Onsite Must be based in or within commuting distance of the Greater Orlando area. About The Role An established organization in the homebuilding and construction industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its experienced Accounting & Finance team. This position provides broad exposure to operational and corporate accounting, with responsibility across the monthly close, sales-related accounting, reconciliations, expense activity, and general ledger functions. Highlights of the Opportunity Join a well-established organization with strong long-term stability and career potential Build specialized accounting experience within the homebuilding and construction sector Work alongside experienced Accounting & Finance professionals and leadership Take ownership of monthly close activities, sales journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting Gain visibility into both corporate accounting functions and day-to-day business operations Competitive salary with a discretionary bonus opportunity Structured team environment with opportunities for continued professional advancement Key Responsibilities Participate in the monthly financial close, including journal entries, account analysis, and supporting reports Prepare and maintain sales journal entries, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unresolved, unusual, or aging items Prepare recurring financial and accounting reports for management Review invoices for appropriate coding, documentation, and processing Work with operational and land teams to address purchase orders, account coding, and accounting questions Review employee expense activity and assist with related reconciliations Monitor company credit card transactions and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained Maintain accurate general ledger records and research discrepancies as they arise Assist with special accounting projects, reporting requests, and other initiatives as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience Experience in homebuilding, construction, or a closely related industry strongly preferred Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures Hands‑on experience with journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations Familiarity with sales accounting, invoice processing, expense reporting, and account analysis Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities Experience working with accounting software and/or ERP systems Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Schedule, Compensation & Growth 100% onsite position in Southeast Orlando Monday–Friday schedule during standard business hours Discretionary bonus opportunity Established Accounting & Finance department with experienced leadership Professional development and advancement opportunities Long‑term stability within an established homebuilding/construction organization The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an accountant with a strong general ledger and month-end close foundation who wants to deepen their expertise within the homebuilding or construction industry.
