Bankruptcy Paralegal

Overview

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to support attorneys handling sophisticated bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency matters. This role provides comprehensive legal support across Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, bankruptcy litigation, and out-of-court restructurings. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced managing complex bankruptcy matters in a fast-paced legal environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of bankruptcy proceedings, including case management, court filings, legal research, trial preparation, and client support while ensuring compliance with court rules and critical deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys in Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, bankruptcy litigation, and out-of-court restructuring matters.

• Prepare, proofread, file, and serve pleadings, motions, notices, affidavits, and other bankruptcy court filings.

• Electronically file documents through CM/ECF and maintain accurate case dockets.
• Monitor court deadlines, maintain litigation calendars, and ensure timely completion of filings and case milestones.
• Prepare proofs of claim, claims registers, bankruptcy schedules, and other case-related documentation.
• Assist with adversary proceedings, contested matters, and other bankruptcy litigation activities.
• Coordinate service of process and communicate with bankruptcy courts, trustees, opposing counsel, clients, and other parties.
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files using document management systems.
• Conduct legal and factual research utilizing PACER, Westlaw, and other legal research resources.
• Prepare hearing and trial notebooks, witness binders, exhibits, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with deposition preparation, discovery, document productions, and litigation support.
• Provide on-site support to attorneys during hearings, mediations, trials, and other court proceedings.
• Collaborate with attorneys and legal support teams to ensure efficient case management and exceptional client service.

Requirements

• 3-7+ years of bankruptcy paralegal experience in a law firm or comparable legal environment.
• Experience supporting Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 liquidations, bankruptcy litigation, and restructuring matters.
• Strong knowledge of federal bankruptcy procedures, rules, and CM/ECF electronic filing systems.
• Experience using PACER, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite, and document management systems.
• Strong understanding of bankruptcy court processes, pleadings, and litigation support.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a fast-paced litigation team.
• Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
