IP&T Litigation Associate - Washington, DC

Overview Dentons US LLP seeks an associate with excellent academic credentials and 4–7 years of patent litigation experience to join our dynamic Intellectual Property and Technology practice. The role involves significant client contact, working closely with partners across the U.S., and serving as a key member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Lead litigation focused on patents, trade secrets, false advertising, unfair competition, and other IP rights in federal courts and before the USITC. Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, appellate briefs, and other court documents. Coordinate with experts, assist in preparing expert reports, and manage discovery, including document discovery, written discovery, and deposition preparation. Prepare for and assist in jury and bench trials, administrative hearings, and state and federal trial and appellate proceedings. Conduct and assist in PTAB proceedings and matters before the ITC. Develop dispute‑settlement strategies, including mediation and other dispute resolution methods. Conduct legal research and produce written work of a high standard. Qualifications 4–7 years of litigation experience, preferably in patent and ITC matters. Strong academic credentials. Patent Bar licensure preferred; a background in science or engineering is desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to produce concise, effective work. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and time‑management skills. Other Requirements Licensed to practice law in the state of hire and in good standing. Washington, D.C. candidates may be licensed in any U.S. state or territory, must be eligible to waive into the Washington, D.C. Bar under DC Court of Appeals Rule 46, and must agree to apply for an exception to admission. Patent bar licensure preferred. Benefits and Compensation Salary range (Washington, D.C.): $265,000 to $420,000, based on experience.
